| On November19, 2010, the Rotary
Club of Forked River provided 200 families with Thanksgiving Meals.
This program took place at the Lacey Food Bank.
The Rotary Club budgeted $4,500 for this program. We received 100 turkeys donated by Walmart of Lacey. We also received another 52 donated turkey's as part for the Shop-Rite of Lacey "Free Turkey Program". All the meals were assembled by The Lacey Township High School Interact Club. Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 12 to 18. Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but they are self-governing and self-supporting. Our local club is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Forked River. Each year, Interact clubs complete at least two community service projects, one of which furthers international understanding and goodwill. Through these efforts, Interactors develop a network of friendships with local and overseas clubs and learn the importance of
150 of the meals went to Lacey Residents, the other 50 went to Barnegat and Waretown who are also in the clubs service area. The meals included everything you need for a nice Thanksgiving dinner including a Turkey, vegetables, stuffing, rolls, cranbury sauce, potatoes and a pie for dessert.
