Holiday Food Program [2001 Pictures - Click Here] [2000 Pictures - Click Here] The Rotary Club of Forked River will once again be having their annual Thanksgiving Program, during which they will be donating Thanksgiving food baskets to over 100 needy families in Lacey, Ocean (Waretown), and Barnegat Townships. This year, the food baskets will be truly "soup to nuts", providing all the fixings for a complete Thanksgiving dinner (including a large Thanksgiving turkey) to those in need, or to those who might otherwise do without. In Lacey Township, the food baskets will be distributed through the assistance of the Lacey Township Food Bank, as well as the generous help of the Lacey Township High School Interact Club. In Ocean Township (Waretown), the food baskets will be provided to the Ocean Township Police Department, whose officers will distribute them to needy families throughout that community. In Barnegat Township, the food baskets will be distributed through the assistance of the Barnegat Township Food Bank. The Thanksgiving food baskets are a combined effort of the Rotary Club of Forked River, through our Thanksgiving Food Program donations, and the communities themselves, from their generous donations of food items to the "holiday food barrels" present at Shop-Rite and Shop-n-Bag in Lacey Township, and the A&P in Barnegat Township. The Rotary Club of Forked River makes it possible for us all to work together to help the needy of our communities during this holiday time. The holiday food program also continues past Thanksgiving into the Rotary Club's Christmas program, when gifts and holiday food baskets are distributed to the needy of Lacey, Ocean, and Barnegat Townships during the Christmas season.
