LACEY — While new park projects here have been put on hold, at least one new project is on the horizon at Gille Park thanks to donations.

During a recent budget workshop meeting it was noted by Committeeman Gary Quinn that, outside of normal maintenance programs at the township's various parks, no new improvement projects would be undertaken this year due to the tight budget.

Then, according to Township Clerk Veronica Laureigh, Wal-Mart donated $5,000 to the Rotary Club of Forked River.

Laureigh, who is also a longtime Rotary Club member, said that the money will be used toward a joint project with the township to install exercise equipment at Gille Park.

"The club was donating $10,000 toward the project and now we are donating a total of $15,000."

Wal-Mart is among several "big box" stores, including The Home Depot, currently built in the township.
